Dear Colleagues,
The biologic agents have been recommended increasingly in current guidelines as the effective therapeutic options for patients with inflammatory rheumatic disease. A great deal of attention for rising health care charges of these medications has resulted in the development of biosimilar medications. Biosimilars with significant cost saving advantages, have the potential to mitigate rising drug costs and facilitate patient access to biologic therapies. As biosimilar market uptake greatly depends on health care providers willingness to promote, prescribe, and use biosimilars in clinical practice, increased perception is required for commercial payer preferences of biosimilars.
Perceived biosimilar barriers include concerns surrounding safety and efficacy, lack of knowledge on billing, coding, and reimbursement, strategies from reference product manufacturers to prevent competition, and regulations restraining interchangeability.
Objective and Rationale
The experiences of dermatologists, rheumatologists, and pharmacists pertinent to biosimilars have been reported previously. In this study, a global survey is intended to investigate the perspective of pediatric rheumatologists worldwide in terms of biosimilar preference, knowledge and acceptance.
Overall, the combined results of the study will delineate the efforts which should be made for improving access to biosimilars for patients and healthcare systems.
Methodology
Web-based survey methodology is utilized to conduct this research. It includes 30 questions and can be completed within 10 minutes. The questions can be reached from the link below.
